It’s not uncommon that we run out of motivation quite often. It’s because we happen to be doing the same thing for years without much change. It’s because we are surrounded by ‘let-it-be-so’ kind of people. “Motivation is like tonic; you need it all the time.”

Keep yourself motivated

So, how to keep yourself motivated?

Here are 6 things that you should do:

 THINK OF YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS

The best thing to do when you need motivation is to ‘think of your own achievements’. This gives you the confidence you want and the passion you need to complete the task in hand. Write down the list of all the achievements you have made over the years. Recall the situation and enjoy that moment.

 SPEND TIME WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE

Make sure you spend time with positive people who can always inspire you. Avoid those brickbats and those who throw a dig at you. They take away the motivation from you. If anyone tries to discourage you, just move away from there. By doing this, you just give them a strong signal that you are not ready to take negative comments.

DON’T TAKE TO HEART EVERY FAILURE

Well, this is where you need to be extra cautious. Learn to treat failures easy. They happen just to teach you something, make you stronger and show you the right path. That was how ‘Thomas Edison’ felt when he failed a thousand times while working with a filament. You know what he said…”I learnt that all the things I have tried now need not be tried by any other. They have saved a lot of time for those.” What an attitude to failures!

FIND WHAT YOU ARE GOOD AT

This is more or less like ‘looking at yourself and your abilities’. Identify the things that you can do well. Give them a try and you will certainly succeed. Again make a list of all the things you are good at and try to improve on them. As you keep yourself busy working on them, you get the motivation you desire and deserve.

 ENGAGE IN CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

This is a wonderful workout. A picture is worth thousand words. And you know, we think in pictures but not words. So, think of something cheerful in your life; something you have achieved; something that you did to help someone out; something that you did to achieve your goal. Relax your mind by engaging yourself in creative visualization so that you get the right motivation.

 EXPRESS YOUR GRATITUDE

Yes, you should write your ‘gratitude list’. Write down all the things and people you have that made your life so easy. Thank the universe because you have got good parents; thank because you have a bike; thank because you have a computer to work on. Just say ‘thanks’ for all the wonderful gifts of life that are bestowed on you. A wonderful way to keep yourself motivated.

  1. Thanks for landing on my blog and subscribing to my mailing list. I just woke and saw your comment and then saw your post and what a way to start a day when someone(me) was feeling a bit low. I think Edison also said,” I have discovered 10000 ways in which things don’t work”. And as far as commentluv is concerned yes it may be a good choice… Keep coming
